I made it! The Marley Hat from Itty Bitty Hats. I did not use the yarn kit from the yarn shop because it was way too expensive. I used the cheaper stuff, but I am still happy with the results. I have not added the topper yet.

Bunny Baby Hat
This one is being mailed off to a friend in Seattle. A friend from NY asked if living in Green Acres was finally getting to me because I have begun knitting....is knitting a sign of insanity now??

My First Baby Hat
Well, I finished it in 3 days and I am still in awe of my little accomplishment. It was a learning process, but I figured it out and found knitting is awesome.
Learning the whole double needle transtition was tricky, but easier than I thought....
I added a topper from Itty Bitty Hats which is used for the Marley hat pattern. I cannot wait to send this one off to a cute baby in New York!!!
I used a 100% cotton yarn - bought at Walmart for around $1.50. It took only one skein, what a super bargain. I am sure seasoned knitters would scoff at my use of this "cheapie" yarn, but I like the feel of it and the color.

Happy New Year!
Wow, its 2011 and all my Christmas decorations are still up (including 3 trees)! The fun task of taking down all the decorations is on my list of things to do. I have been kinda preoccupied with something that has captured my full attention - knitting. Yeah, I may have a trillion quilting projects in all stages of construction, but I visited my local knitting shop Needleworks and was hooked (excuse the pun).
So, there I was browsing around this tiny corner of a large quilting shop called Threads of Time and saw the cutest little baby hat I have ever seen...

Like a little kid, I was smitten by all the colors and had to make it!! This is the Marley hat from the book Itty Bitty Hats by Susan B Anderson (who also has, as I just discovered, a fab blog with all sorts of fun knit stuff). So, I purchased some circular knitting needles, some other knitting gear and yarn to get started on my FIRST EVER BABY HAT!! Wish me luck :-)
